Chai by Kai is a small loose leaf tea brand run by one person in Glasgow. Every pouch is weighed, blended and packed by hand, to order, so the tea you open was packed days ago rather than months ago. There is no shop to walk into. You order online and it is posted by Royal Mail from Glasgow, across Scotland and the whole of the UK, at the same price for the Highlands and Islands as for the city.
What we sell
Single origin black, green, oolong and white teas, caffeine free herbals like peppermint, chamomile and rooibos, and our own small batch blends. Scottish Breakfast is the one most people start with, a bold blend of Assam, Kenyan and Ceylon leaf made for a splash of milk. Chocolate Mint, Earl Grey Finest with Flowers, Jasmine Green and Rooibos Kalahari are the ones people come back for. Every tea is sold by the 100g, 250g or 500g pouch, and most are available as a 99p single cup sample so you can try before you commit.
Why loose leaf
A tea bag holds dust and fannings, the small broken bits left over from processing. Loose leaf is the whole leaf, so it brews slower, tastes cleaner and can often be steeped more than once. It is also cheaper per cup than most people expect. A 100g pouch of Scottish Breakfast makes around 40 mugs. Our brewing guides cover times and temperatures for every type.

Letter sized orders are £1.95, parcels are £3.99, and delivery is free over £30. Orders are packed within 2 to 3 business days.
